Twitter Tests $99 Monthly Subscription

In an effort to boost revenue, Twitter is beta testing a $99 monthly subscription service. Subscribers would see their accounts and tweets promoted in the feeds of non-followers. While the model could benefit businesses and brands active on the social network, many users share the view of this Mashable article that it could be the end of Twitter as we know it.
