Tesla’s Reopening and Elon Musk’s Electrifying Disobedience
Not all businesses have the luxury of offering work from home opportunities to their employees. The reality is that a majority of people need to be on-site at their place of employment. That’s true of most industries, including the automotive sector.
That has put a lot of pressure on companies to find ways to work within the confines of the pandemic’s stay-at-home orders. But as time goes on, some have found it difficult to continue the quarantine efforts. The Tesla Team posted on its blog that the car manufacturer is getting back to work. Elon Musk then tweeted out that the company would be restarting production against Alameda County’s rules, while also acknowledging the potential for his arrest. This announcement electrified an already tense situation as people are torn between social quarantining and getting back to work.
There’s no question that those that can’t work from home are feeling the stresses of the pandemic and the global economic strain. Hopefully we’ll be able to look back on the crisis and see that our efforts weren’t in vain.
Tesla is restarting production today against Alameda County rules. I will be on the line with everyone else. If anyone is arrested, I ask that it only be me.
