Stranger Things 3 Turns Summer Marketing Upside Down

Stranger Things 3 is turning summer 2019 upside down—especially when it comes to marketing. The Netflix original series has been unleashing posters, collaborations, and trailers filled with summer vibes to hype up fans for the third installment of the series. Their tagline says it all: “One summer can change everything.”

Bikes are an integral part of summer and the show as they’re the four teenage protagonists’ only means of transportation. In summer of 2018, Stranger Things teamed up with Schwinn to create a replica of Mike’s bike. The vintage two-wheeler was only sold through an 80s inspired hotline and sold out within days. This success lead them to recreate Luke’s bike for Stranger Things 3. The emerald, limited-edition cycle is sold on Amazon and comes with a camo bandana, like the one Luke wears in the show.

If you aren’t into cycling, Netflix is also collaborating with Baskin-Robbins to dish out Stranger Things-themed ice cream treats. The new goodies include an Elevenade Freeze and a Demogorgon Sundae. Baskin-Robbins is additionally sprinkling in some exclusive merch featuring the “Scoops Ahoy” logo—the ice cream parlor seen throughout the trailers for season three. Let’s hope they also adopt Dairy Queen’s upside down Blizzard idea.

To top it all off, the release date for Stranger Things season 3 is July 4th. The posters are covered in fireworks to reinforce the date of the premiere. Independence Day is the biggest summer holiday in the U.S., and we’re definitely going to celebrate by binge watching Stranger Things 3.

It’s summer time in Hawkins, Indiana. The kids may be out of school, but the marketing team at Stranger Things seems determined to teach us a lesson.
