The American Red Cross Has a Scary Good Ad with Neve Campbell

You don’t often see an advertising campaign from the American Red Cross that creatively tackles the concept of giving blood. The organization usually sticks to the standard routes of appealing to peoples’ sense of empathy and sharing their mission of preventing and relieving suffering. That’s why it’s a surprise and a welcome treat to see their horrifically unique approach at getting noticed.

We’re referring to the horror movie themed ad spot with Neve Campbell, known for her role in the Scary Movie franchise. The ad’s message focuses on how audiences are conditioned to accept (and for some—enjoy the sight of) blood on the big screen but are too afraid to donate it. The tongue-in-cheek ad spot is a refreshing reminder that trying something new and outside the norm could be good publicity for your organization.
