Amazon Go Store Finally Opens
What do you get when you remove all humans from the store buying experience? That’s what Amazon has done with Amazon Go. Okay, maybe you’ll still encounter human beings while shopping at the Amazon Go store, but you’re less likely to become annoyed by long checkout lines and irritating small talk with the cashier. That’s because there are no lines and no cashier. Yeah, for real. You simply walk into the store with your smart phone, pick up things you want and walk out. It couldn’t be simpler.
But don’t get too excited, there is only one Amazon Go right now. The flagship store opened in Seattle after announcing the idea and a test environment about a year ago. There are no official plans to open another Amazon Go that we know of – but it’s inevitable that this is the express checkout experience our children will be accustomed to and the dream of all introverts everywhere.
The only question is – When will they Minority Report us and scan our retinas to provide targeted advertising? That’s the future we’re waiting patiently for, just like our hover boards.
