Fresh or Fatigued: Are Fans Still Hyped for Cavs vs. Warriors Part IV?

Originals are exciting because they are new and fresh. But often times fans get even more excited for the sequel because they want to see more of what they loved. And, thanks to Star Wars, audiences have come to love a trilogy—with three being an ideal number to take a tale from start to finish. However, four is where things get tricky.

Beginning on May 31, 2018, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors will play in their fourth straight NBA Finals. The series, once a dream for the NBA because it featured both the unique play of the Warriors and the unmatched star power of LeBron James, has now seen its narrative shift a little—with some talk that the matchup has grown stale and one-sided (with the Warriors clearly dominant).

Whether audiences will swarm to the NBA Finals in the same numbers they have in the past three years remains to be seen. Of course, one thing will quickly eliminate any talk of fan fatigue when it comes to Cavs vs. Warriors: A close and competitive series.
