The Big Mac Goes Home – McDonald’s Origin Campaign

Many people online do not have the most… positive opinion of McDonald’s ingredients. A brand as ubiquitous as the golden arches is bound to have naysayers, but many of their critics will knock on the ingredients. With this in mind, the company has launched a new campaign to show off the origin of their ingredients. Titled “Everything Has an Origin”, McDonald’s has gone across Spain, erecting the iconic arches over lands that supply their produce.

The effectiveness of this brand effort comes in two forms: First, McDonald’s has shielded itself from easy criticism through signaling exactly where their food comes from. Secondly, they create good press through the public sponsoring of these suppliers. The landowners who help supply McDonald’s have been the subject of several news stories after the arches were erected, creating goodwill amongst the community. Perhaps they can put something up in our yard?
