You Cannot Escape That Track: Goldfish Conquers the Grammys
Hey, we all know that one snack. Yes, the one that smiles back. Catchiness it does not lack. Now it’s on the attack. Instagram it has now cracked. Fans are giving it some flack. Like a duck it too can… quack?
Okay we’re done.
As millions of people tuned in to the Grammys they were not only greeted by award winning artists, but a jingle that is all too familiar. Everybody loves the Goldfish jingle, happy kids have been humming it since the early 2000’s. The Goldfish commercial that aired during the Grammys was all focused on the iconic song, in fact there was nothing but the jingle. Over, and over. The ad played the jingle numerous times in a row over different phrases that would align with the original phrase “the snack that smiles back”. Then, it called on social media users to make their own posts that would do the same.
The Goldfish ad has a clear goal, and directs all of its efforts towards that single idea; brand awareness. On one of the biggest nights in television, the organization fed the massive audience their jingle on loop so many times that it would sit in their heads for weeks to come. It makes for an interesting gambit on Goldfish’s part. Many viewers have taken to social media not only to write their own jingle, but to also complain about the numerous times the ad played during the ceremony. What do you think? Did the fish make a large enough splash at the Grammys? We would love to hear feedback! Sorry, we couldn’t resist.
