Hardee’s Proves that AI Can’t Create a Burger, Yet
As AI-generated art takes the internet by storm with its fascinating and uncanny realness, Hardee’s steps up to let us know that AI can’t do everything. In their new ad utilizing the AI imaging software unAImaginable, Hardee’s asked the algorithm to create their “Super Star Burger”. What emerged from this was a series of bizarre burger-like pictures, oftentimes infused with alien ingredients. Some contained literal stars, others had mashups of burger-like textures that weren’t quite right, while others seemed to abandon the concept of a burger entirely. Each rendition got close, but none quite hit the mark.
This ad took advantage of the current fascination with AI-generated content and their approximation of reality and used it to highlight their product as one-of-a-kind. With the tagline “So, it seems AI can’t imagine everything it’s asked. So come order the real Super Star we imagine”, they poke fun at the new technology and build a solid call to action off of the riff. The ad also mentions that the AI had 10,000 attempts at rendering the Super Star Burger, and you realize that all of these goofy images are only the tip of the iceberg. This ad begs the question; How long will it be until AI can successfully render a Super Star Burger?
