TMNT Franchise Poised to Kick Some Shell and Cause Mayhem at the Box Office
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (or TMNT) could be one of the most remade cartoons of all time. Faltering only before the behemoth that is the Scooby-Doo franchise, TMNT has nine different television series and six appearances on the big screen. In fact, it will enter its seventh appearance later this year.
Those lovable teenage turtles have seen many iterations since their inception in 1984 as a comic book series. The latest edition of TMNT has all the hallmarks of a modern animated movie. Its cast is filled with big-name actors, with proven track records and well-known voices to get people into seats. The animation takes heavy inspiration from the Oscar-winning “Into the Spiderverse” from 2018 with a hand-drawn art style. Interestingly, the film seems to be depicting the turtles as true teenagers, utilizing younger voice talent to bring a new energy to the characters. With a library as vast as the TMNT franchise, this latest installment titled “Mutant Mayhem” has a lot to live up to, but looks like it could kick some shell at the box office. How do you think it will stack up against its predecessors?
