Audi Responds to GM’s “Attack” on Norway

Did you see the No Way, Norway commercial from GM, featuring Will Ferrel, that announced its intentions to punch Norway in the face? Meant as a joke, or at least a metaphor for the automaker’s intention to eventually become a leader in the electric vehicle market. The commercial’s comedy stems from a recent study showing that the country of Norway is outpacing the rest of the world with a 54% market share of electric vehicles.

Audi Norway (among others) responded in jest with their reaction to the hostility towards their electric vehicle dominance. Featuring Norwegian Game of Thrones actor Kristofer Hivju, the commercials (there’s 3 of them) poke fun at the rivalry. This is the kind of thing that we like to see from competing brands, and countries for that matter. Let’s hope we see some more lighthearted brand messaging like this in the future.
