Coke Lands in Fortnite with Zero Sugar Byte
When it comes to drink flavors, the sky’s the limit. From spaghetti/pizza smoothies to candy corn soda, if you can think of it, it probably exists. That is why Coke launched their Coca-Cola Creations platform, where they can experiment with conceptual flavors for a limited time. Their first launch was “Coca-Cola Starlight”, a reportedly “space-flavored” drink that tapped into public interest in space travel. A space flavor is a hard act to follow, which is why their next drink is equally cerebral. What does a pixel taste like?
Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Byte is a brand new flavor launched by the soda giant, meant to invoke classic gaming and nostalgia. To accompany the launch is experiential marketing efforts meant to connect with the gaming sphere. One feature of this campaign is a scannable code on every can of Zero Sugar Byte that will open access to an AR game. The centerpiece of the product launch is tapping into the gaming colossus, Fortnite. Coke created their own island within the game where players could go to try out a variety of minigames. Hopefully meeting gamers where they live will open the door to give Zero Sugar Byte a try. Would you like a taste of the abstract?
