Facebook’s Meta Rebranding – How Does it Hold Up?
Facebook is no longer Facebook. Be assured, the social media platform will continue with its original name, but the technology giant that created Facebook is going by a new title. The company has changed their name to “Meta”, and they have a new logo to boot. Facebook Incorporated’s Meta rebranding is made with the hopes to lead the charge into the metaverse. For those unfamiliar, the metaverse is defined as a virtual platform where users can interact in a computer-generated physical space. It can be expected that the newly minted Meta will be placing extra focus on technology like their Oculus Quest and other VR tools.
Companies can rebrand for a variety of reasons. Some companies rebrand to salvage their image, while others hope to redefine their mission. The Facebook Incorporated rebranding has received a mixed reaction from audiences. As a brand, Facebook has not always found love in the public’s eyes, and those detractors accuse the tech firm of trying to escape their bad press through this new name. Whatever the case, the Meta name is here to stay. Now we’ll sit back and wait for the VR update to Facebook so that we can look at pictures of cats in the virtual world.
