H&M Brand Expands into Weddings
It’s that time of year again – you know – the spring wedding season. And with marital love in the air comes a slew of marketing news directed at those who are having weddings and those who are attending weddings.
If you haven’t heard already, H&M, the Swedish multinational clothing-retail company that employs over 171,000 people worldwide, has recently launched itself into wedding fashion. While that might not be totally surprising, it does prove that even global brands can transition into untapped areas that could prove to be lucrative.
A Little About Weddings
In 2016, the U.S. wedding industry raked in over $72 billion. But the outlook on weddings hasn’t been consistently positive in recent years. After the recession, wedding budgets were lower than usual. With these budget cuts, many wedding vendors and providers suffered from decreased spending.
Why H&M Can Profit
H&M has carved out their niche in the clothing market for affordable, fashion-forward options, so it makes sense that it would benefit from entering the budget conscious wedding market. Plus, H&M has been a force to be reckoned with as an online retailer, so the chances of this expansion has even more potential.
