NBA & Nike Unveil New “Statement” Uniforms
Back in 2015, Nike signed an eight-year contract with the NBA to provide uniforms for the league starting with the 2017-18 season (AKA this season). As a result of the reported $1-billion deal, Nike takes over as the official uniform brand from Adidas and—in a first for the league—gets its logo displayed prominently on player jerseys.
To kick off this new partnership, Nike recently unveiled new “Statement Edition” uniforms for every team in the league (there are 30). In a news post, Nike says this uniform “sets the tone for big games or rivalries” and “for each team, the aesthetic expresses the specific spirit of the current roster”. A few of these new uniforms feature pretty sweet designs—with some of our favorites being Golden State, Brooklyn, and Oklahoma City.
