Paramount Plus Brings Out the Whole Roster for the Super Bowl
Star power is a core piece of Super Bowl advertising. With every company pouring millions of dollars into one night of viewership, it is essential to make a lasting impression. Some advertisers believe that to leave an impression, they must put the face of a beloved celebrity front and center. Many advertisers follow this philosophy, including Paramount+.
Streaming services have a unique advantage when it comes to filling their ads with celebrities. If people already associate certain celebrities with the content on the platform, it makes sense to remind them of that fact. During this year’s big game, Paramount+ made the most of their roster in a spot called “A Mountain of Entertainment”, in which Sir Patrick Stewart threw Arnold from “Hey Arnold” into the side of a cliff, while Master Chief, Jeff Probst, Drew Barrymore and others watched in amazement. The star power was supported by a myriad of references to each of the platform’s properties. Plus, the flight of a boy with a football-shaped head was a beautiful sight to see, and a testament to the influence streaming content can have on Super Bowl advertising.
