Surreal – The Preferred Cereal of Your Local Dwayne Johnson

Surreal – The Preferred Cereal of Your Local Dwayne Johnson

Celebrity spokespersons are a staple of modern branding, though they can cost a pretty penny. Oftentimes, the name alone is enough to generate interest. So this begs the question; Why should brands pay for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson when they can pay for Dwayne “your neighbor” Johnson? This was the idea behind Surreal’s campaign, as they signed several individuals who had very similar names to well-known celebrities.

Aside from a bus driver named Dwayne, Surreal also signed non-famous students: Michael Jordan, Serena Williams, and Ronaldo. These distinguished individuals with famous names make for wonderful brand ambassadors, as they offer the same name recognition that other celebrities would. So if you’re ever looking for a fiscally responsible individual to champion your product, consider checking your phone book for the nearest Morgan Freeman.
