SPEAKING HUMAN

BUZZ FOR YOUR BRAIN

Toad&Co Promises You Don’t Have to Kiss the Frog

For centuries, frogs have hogged the fairy tale spotlight. One smooch and—boom!—they’re a prince. Meanwhile, toads have been sitting on the sidelines, warty and waiting. But Toad&Co is changing that narrative… sort of.

Resurrecting their 1990s tagline “Love your toad,” the outdoor apparel brand launched a cheeky campaign that pits a literal toad against their classic jacket in a battle for affection. Spoiler alert: jackets don’t croak and apparently give better hugs. In the campaign’s centerpiece ad, a woman must choose between a charming little amphibian suitor and the warm embrace of her beloved Toad&Co coat. Sorry, tiny toad dude. No kiss this time.

The campaign doesn’t stop there. On social, the jilted toad gets a post-breakup glow-up as a full-blown celebrity. Think: red carpets, headshots, and diva energy. It’s a brilliantly bizarre brand play that leans into absurdity with just enough heart to stick the landing.

Marketing Takeaway:
By blending vintage brand equity with offbeat humor and a strong emotional hook (for jackets and amphibians alike), Toad&Co creates content that’s quirky, memorable, and perfectly scroll-stoppable. Even if you don’t buy a coat, you’ll remember the toad.
