Twitter Reactions: Suicide Squad Marketing
Suicide Squad is one of the most buzzed about movies of the year. With a massive (and effective) marketing campaign, the film was anticipated to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer (two of our predictors had it listed as the summer’s #1 earner).
And then the reviews start rolling in. The best reviews have called the film flawed but fun. The worst just call it a total mess. Suddenly, the Squad’s prospects look a little less sunny. In fact, it’s almost as if Harley Quinn has taken a baseball bat to the film’s financial future.
As marketing and film criticism battle for the hearts of summer moviegoers, where does Suicide Squad stand? Will it triumph on the wings of marketing or fall at the feet of quality? We turned to Twitter for some insights.

#SuicideSquad is an example of the power of both marketing and critics. Either way we lose.

After more than a year of hype, I'm convinced #SuicideSquad is just the marketing and there is no actual film.

The marketing for Suicide Squad looked like the marketing for a clothes brand catering to edgy 12 year olds who like skateboards

A film with one of the greatest marketing campaigns in super hero film history and one of the most misleading. 6/10 from me ?

Well... my fear about Suicide Squad seems to be true - amazing marketing and idea with less than stellar results. Will still see it though.
