2020 Only Gets Nuttier with Peanut Junior
Earlier this year, Planters’ 104-year-old Mr. Peanut died saving Wesley Snipes, only to be reincarnated as Baby Nut during the Super Bowl. To make 2020 even stranger, Baby Nut grew up and turned 21 years old in the span of 7 months. The Planters #MakeMyBirthdayNuts sweepstakes is an effort that has proven to be thought provoking to some critics. When asked about how this is possible, Peanut Junior answers with “It’s been a weird year.” That simple answer is timely and relatable. Haven’t we all aged more quickly in the last 7 months?
Regardless of how you feel about the whole marketing effort, this one can be tossed up as another weird (but thankfully lighter) moment of 2020.
