Jeep Pulls Bruce Springsteen Ad

After learning about a late 2020 DWI arrest of Bruce Springsteen, the automaker pulled the commercial focused on community and unity. Some have said that better vetting could have helped Jeep avoid this unfortunate outcome. The simple fact is that this is one of those instances that people working on a marketing campaign don’t expect and can be almost impossible to foresee if the talent isn’t forthcoming with facts that could harm the brand.

It’s smart that Jeep paused the commercial via social media (i.e. YouTube) while investigating the facts of the incident. Hopefully, this doesn’t damage the overall message that Jeep was trying to communicate through their advertisement. A spokesperson told Rolling Stone that “Its message of community and unity is as relevant as ever. As is the message that drinking and driving can never be condoned.”
