PAC-MAN Gobbles Up Nostalgia in Pizza Hut Partnership

PAC-MAN is amongst the most iconic video game characters of all time, and he’s notoriously hungry. This year, the memorable character decided Pizza Hut pizzas will be his pellets as Bandai Namco partnered with the pizza company. The campaign “Newstalgia”, calls back to memories of the arcade pizzerias of the 90’s. Now instead of popping a quarter into a machine, all you need to do is flip your box and scan a QR code. Then the map printed on the bottom of a Pizza Hut box will turn into the PAC-MAN maze and you can actually play the classic arcade game in AR! The marriage of brands fits perfectly within the history of both companies. PAC-MAN was inspired by the image of a pizza with one slice taken out, and his character is hunger personified. On the other hand, Pizza Hut is a brand that many remember alongside arcade machines. The resulting campaign is a sure-fire winner, creating an engaging and nostalgic experience for Pizza Hut customers. Waka waka waka waka!
