Twitter Reactions to Nikon’s Brand Marketing Fail
When Nikon recently released a list of 32 professional photographers to promote its D850 camera, they made one fatal mistake: failing to include any women. It is pretty unbelievable that this could go overlooked at any point in the curation process, but it did, and Nikon has received some backlash for it. They also tweeted an apology for the blatant omission, but the damage had already been done.
The lesson here is simple. Diversity in your brand marketing is crucial. No matter what nationality or gender we happen to be, we’re all potential customers. We’re all human. Don’t forget that. The rest of the world won’t.
Some of the Twitter reactions from Nikon’s unfortunate marketing mistake…
Pretty disgusted with @UKNikon for the 32 male strong selection for the d850. As an avid nikon user I question my choices #Nikon #nikond850

It’s not just about photography. More needs to be done in those regions re: diversity. This is about being human. 3/3 #nikond850 #nikon
